Techne Summit is an international multi-industry focused Investment & Entrepreneurship event that aims to impact multiple sectors and stakeholders of the Startup Communities in The Mediterranean Region through showcasing different technologies and their application in each industry.

The Event kick-started in Alexandria, Egypt in 2015 and in 2021 has attracted more than 21,000 attendees, 300 speakers, 800 startups, and 180 investors, all from more than 70 countries.

This year, Techne Summit took place as a hybrid event in Alexandria, Egypt from November 5 till November 8, 2022. It included a series of workshops, panel discussion, presentations, meet and greet sessions.

Dr. Nicolas Rouhana, Chairman & CEO of IM Fndng, was invited to participate as a Guest Speaker in three panels and discussions.

  • Investors’ Bootcamp, Panel:
Every VC-Backed Startup is Now Vying for Reserves.
On Sunday, November 6, from 12:45 pm till 1:30 pm

So much has changed in venture capital since the beginning of the year, and many founders are still unaware of it. One example is the concept of "reserves," which is critical for VCs but not usually necessary for founders to understand in The Best of Times. Because there is always more money to invest in top performers and even mid-pack performers in the Best of Times. To write second and third checks into the winners, money almost always comes from somewhere. But, in tougher times, in more stressful times in business (like now), that money for second and third checks almost vanishes.

  • Investors’ Bootcamp, Roundtable:
Building Trust Between Different Ecosystems To Hold More Effective Cross-Border Investments.
On Sunday, November 6, from 3:00 pm till 4:00 pm

Increasing cross-border investment requires mechanisms that build relationships - not only between business angels - but also between all pillars of the ecosystems across different regions, given the evidence of the strong tendency of angel investors to invest within their own countries. This roundtable deliberately shed light on why promote cross-border investments, build trust between different ecosystems and what initiatives are required to ‘move the needle’.

  • Investors’ Bootcamp, Panel:
Investment Incentives; Success or Fail! How Can Guarantees Help Reduce Investment Risk.
On Sunday, November 6, from 4:00 pm till 4:45 pm

Angel investment may be interesting, profitable, and socially beneficial. However, it may also be a costly endeavor in terms of resources (money, time, and opportunities lost). This discussion deliberately shed light on how guarantees could potentially protect investors from incurring losses.
